President of the Senate

The president of the senate is tasked with presiding over the senate. The powers of the president of the senate as it is an unelected role, the main of which being the ability to cast the tie-breaking vote.

The vice president is granted the role as president of the senate however usually a temporary president pro tempore is chosen to preside over day to day proceedings with the vice president only presiding over things like the swearing in of new senators, during joint sessions, or the announcement of the results of votes on popular or important legislation.
