Three brothers were arrested by Norwegian police after an alleged terror bombing attack on the US embassy in Oslo. The brothers were unnamed but they were all in their 20s with Iraqi heritage. The bombing was carried out with an improvised explosive device there were no casualties in the attack. [12]
The Norwegian government is looking into whether or not the attack was supported by a State actor with Alireza Jahangiri, Iran’s ambassador to Norway denying the allegations stating that Iran had no involvement and that it was unacceptable that Iran was being singled out. [12]
Sources from Reuters began reporting that Iran has started laying mines within the straight of Hormuz suggesting about 12 were laid so far. [1] Ships in the straight have already began to be struck by unknown munitions. [4]
CNN had reported on the same thing on March the 10th saying that the American strikes on the country hadn't hit most their small water craft and mine laying vehicles with them retaining upwards of 80% to 90% of them. [2]
Trump disputed the claim that mine laying had begun on a truth social post claiming that they had no reports that they had begun laying mines and if they had "the Military consequences to Iran will be at a level never seen before". [3] At the time United States forces had already began targeting mine laying vessels with the US central command posting a declassified video of the strikes. [5]
The united states has stated that it is unable to provide escorts within the strait of hormuz as the risk of them being attacked is too high. [6] Maritime security sources with Reuters claimed that protecting boats in the strait would require the united states to take control of the Iranian coastline in the strait saying that it's too easy for one or two escort vessels to be overwhelmed by small manned or unmanned craft from Iran. [6]
Energy secretary Chris Wright tweeted out a post stating that the US military had begun providing protection to oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz only to delete it half an hour later. [7] Press secretary Karoline Leavitt then walked back the statement denying that any military escorts had occurred. [7]
After his father Ayatollah Ali Khamanei was assassinated along with Mojtaba's mother, wife and one of his sons, Mojtaba was elevated to the position of the new supreme leader over 3 days ago however since then the Iranian government has failed to show any new video or audio recordings of Mojtaba since he was appointed to the role casting doubts on his health. [8] Iran's ambassador in Cyprus confirmed that Mojtaba was injured in the strike that killed a large portion of the rest of his family including his father. [9] He was supposedly injured in his legs, hand and arm and is in the hospital for the injuries. The son of the Iranian president and a top advisor also stated that Mojtaba was injured. [9]
In the house of commons Mark Carney stated that Canada is currently not involved in the offensive and will never participate in it. Carney had talked with the other G7 leaders already specifically with Emmanuel Macron where he expressed their collective want for the strait of Hormuz to be safely re-opened. [10]
In an bulletin with unverified information the FBI sent out to police departments in California they warned that Iran could be planning to retaliate for American attacks by launching drones at the west coast. [13]
The bulletin read "We recently acquired unverified information that as of early February 2026, Iran allegedly aspired to conduct a surprise attack using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) from an unidentified vessel off the coast of the United States homeland, specifically against unspecified targets in California, in the event the U.S. conducted strikes against Iran," according to the alert distributed at the end of February. "We have no additional information on the timing, method, target, or perpetrators of this alleged attack." [13]
Notably officials have stated that the recent attacks on Iran have likely degraded their capabilities below what could be capable to carry out such an attack. [13]
Lori Idlout the member of parliament for the territory of Nunavut cross the floor to join the Liberal caucus after being elected under the New Democratic Party in 2021 and 2025. [11] This floor crossing pushes the NDP farther down to only 6 seats in the house and further cements Mark Carneys momentum pushing the Liberals to just 2 seats away from a majority. [11]
Idlout provided a few reasons for her crossing stating that the threats on Canada's sovereignty and pressures of the well-being of people throughout the north pushed her to make the switch after flirting with the idea for months.
