Electric Potential Energy

Electric potential energy is the amount of potential energy a charged particle possesses due to its position in an electric field. The electric potential energy is a conservative force.

The formula for electric potential energy is:

  • Definitions
    • is the electric potential energy, measured in Joule
    • is Coulomb's constant
    • and are the charges of the two particles interacting, measured in Coulomb
    • is the distance between the two particles, measured in meters
